MIKE Mentor Introduces Youth to Health Careers

Sang Jimmy Mai is the longest serving mentor with MIKE and continues to enrich the organization with his passion for health and teaching youth. His experiences and insights working with youth continue to provide students with information and encouragement as they consider the next stages in their lives. Recently, he joined MIKE as a guest speaker to inspire students at Merlo Station Community School in Beaverton with a host of career options.

Jimmy is an X-ray technician at the Portland VA Medical Center, located at OHSU. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Technology at Oregon Institute of Technology. He’s currently taking classes at Portland State University in preparation for medical school.

Jimmy shared some of his personal interests with the students, including outdoor activities of backpacking and hiking to computers and gaming. He is a current member and team leader for a local non-profit Dragon & Lion Dancing group called White Lotus. White Lotus members participate in cultural performances all over Oregon.
