Our Mission
MIKE Program empowers youth to be ambassadors of health in service to their diverse communities through mentorship, partnership, and the promotion of healthy kidneys.

Our Goals
- Promote excellence and equity in health and health care
- Increase the number and diversity of health care workforce
- Increase trust between providers and consumers of health care
- Integrate cultures and generations in health education and promotion
- Increase service skills of health profession students
- Promote cultural inclusion in medical education
- Empower youth to participate in health promotion

- Raise awareness about the link between healthy kidneys and overall health and productivity.
- Increase public knowledge of origins and precursors of kidney failure
- Promote personal and social behaviors to protect against kidney failure
- Lead collaboration among community stakeholders, including kidney health professionals, to raise public awareness about the risks of kidney failure and strategies for disease prevention
- Target programs to the medically disadvantaged communities at high risk of kidney failure
Founding Objectives
- Develop peer-to-peer programs to educate youth on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
- Develop peer-to-peer programs to increase trust of the medical community among youth at risk of kidney-related diseases.
- Develop physician-training programs to target medical professionals who treat people at risk of poor kidney health.
- Develop and implement curriculum-based programs to increase overall cardiovascular health and to promote kidney health for grades 6th through 10th.
- Target programs to the medically disadvantaged communities at a high risk of kidney diseases.
