OHSU Moore Institute for Nutrition and Wellness
About the Partnership:
MIKE Program is proud to be part of an extraordinary effort with the OHSU Bob and Charlee Moore Institute for Nutrition & Wellness, aligning a focus on the intergenerational relationships of food and health. Through the efforts of MIKE’s Advisory Board Member Susan Bagby, MD, (pictured on the left) who serves as chair for the Community Outreach Committee, along with the steering committee of the Moore Institute, the partnership has supported production of nutrition outreach materials, like MIKE’s My Healthy Pocket Shopper. The Moore Institute has been instrumental in supporting MIKE’s future expansion into Centennial High School through a key curriculum training workshop in August 2014. Moore Institute’s Public Health & Policy Fellow, Larry Wallack, DrPH, (pictured below) was the keynote speaker at MIKE’s Community Gathering event in March 2014.
About OHSU Moore Institute for Nutrition & Wellness
Bob and Charlee Moore of Bob’s Red Mill share a sustained passion for healthy food. Together with OHSU’s world-class expertise in nutrition, a future-thinking partnership was formed in 2011. The central commitment of the OHSU Moore Institute for Nutrition & Wellness is to reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases across the lifespan in current and future generations by promoting healthy, nutrient-dense diets based on whole-foods in early life – before conception, during pregnancy and lactation, and in infancy and early childhood.
The scientific cornerstone of the OHSU Moore Institute is a discipline in which OHSU is recognized internationally: the developmental origins of health and disease, which includes the vital relationships between maternal prenatal diet, fetal health and adult onset disease.
