Kaiser Permanente Northwest
About the Partnership:
Kaiser Permanente Northwest awarded MIKE Program a grant for $15,000 to improve the health outcomes of 100 Portland youth. MIKE will mentor the youth, all of the ninth grade students at De La Salle North Catholic High School, to embrace and promote healthy behaviors for themselves, their peers and families and within their communities during the 2015-2016 academic year.
“Kaiser Permanente Northwest’s recognition and support positions us to strengthen the tangible changes we can make in the lives of youth,” says MIKE President Cheryl Neal, MD. The grant reflects the ongoing collaboration between Neal and Robert Winthrop, a member of the National Medicare/Medicaid Finance team with Kaiser Permanente, as well as a senior fellow with the Hatfield School of Government at Portland State University. Winthrop, together with Neal, is developing a business plan to sustain MIKE’s service expansion.
